Coquitlam West

Also known colloquially and by locals as “Burquitlam”, a merger of the names of Burnaby and Coquitlam, Coquitlam West is bordered by North Road to the West, Port Moody to the North, and New Westminster to the South. It is one of the older parts of the city and directly adjacent to the city of Burnaby. Home to many ethnic restaurants and shops, a short stroll down North Road and you will quickly appreciate all the plentiful Korean restaurants and shops that make up this vibrant neighbourhood. You will also quickly realize this is no ordinary suburban neighbourhood. Here you will find towering apartment buildings and hotels, as well as a shopping mall just across the street in Burnaby. Farther down South you will find numerous international supermarkets and the Asian-inspired rooflines of Lougheed Skytrain Station, the major transit hub for much of the Tri-Cities.

With the construction of the Evergreen Line, Coquitlam West has seen tremendous growth and densification, as more and more individuals are drawn to its amenities and affordability. The area offers close to everything at all price points, including single family dwellings, townhouse as well as concrete apartment buildings. Lot sizes for single family homes tend to be larger here, and many have been demolished and replaced with larger luxury homes that have changed the landscape of the area. The proximity to Simon Fraser University makes it a popular place for students and professionals who are looking for urban living in a suburban environment.
